THE STALKING FLESH

"Because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so." — Romans 8:7

"There's a war coming!" they shouted. 

"What war? It will take ages for another war." 

I yelled back. Later, we drifted apart from each other. 

"I wonder what war they are talking about. Well, if there is a war, I'm safe. I am converted and I will go to heaven when I die. Maybe they're kidding or daydreaming.” I chuckled.

Several months passed. So many things have happened. 

"So far I am enjoying this Christian life! I am learning many things from His word. I got involved in this church. " then, 

"Glory to God!" 

He muttered, "Let me have some of it. Just a little, he wouldn't mind, right? " 

"You are exalted above!" 

He said, "Let Me go with him, take Me up with you so that people can see me too." 

"Christ is my righteousness!" 

He whispered, "See what I've done? I can save My own. I'm good. He owes Me a favor on this one." 

"Wait... Who was that? That was strange. He is now silent ... Wait. It's coming back again."

"When you sing in front; I'm there, "Do I sound good singing?" I can sing, can't I? Finally, they know that I sing well." 

When you give food to the needy; I am there, "Are people looking at Me already? Okay, here's some food for you."

When you fast; I'm there, "I fasted for three days, at least you can ask me how I did it and pay me a compliment." 

When you share a doctrine in theology; I am here, "Say something more about Me! I like this praise. Of course, I really know so many things from the Bible. " 

"Yes, I must be significant! Everything must be about Me! I must rise! I must be exalted! Come see how awesome I am! People say I'm humble, yes! Give me more. They don't know my hidden motives and agendas, it must be concealed. It must be kept from them. It has to stay in the dark for it to last. Come! Come all of you! Say something good about Me! Feed my ego! Tickle my ears! Blow the trumpets so they may know Me! 

Oops. Maybe he can hear me. I have to be quiet. Ssssshhh."

"I heard him, it was soft but I heard him. What they said was true. There is a great enemy and it is within me. This is a battle. This is war."
