THE DIVINE EXCHANGE

“He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” — 2 Corinthians 5:21

The assurance of every Christian in this world lies in this one verse. This is the great doctrine that distinguishes Christianity in every other world religions, the Substitutionary Atonement of Christ upon Calvary's Cross. 

Where Christ became a curse that we might not be accursed (Gal. 3:13), Was pierced because of our transgressions, Was crushed because of our iniquities (Isaiah 53:5). Was made sin that we might become His righteousness before His Father. The worst of us were laid upon Him and best of Him was laid upon us. He took our dirty robes in exchange for His perfect righteousness garment that we might stand boldly before His Father.

The English preacher, Charles H. Spurgeon nailed it when he said:

"You stand before God as if you were Christ, because Christ stood before God as if He were you." 

This is the very heart of the gospel.

This is the gospel that saved us. 

This is the gospel that we proclaim to the world. 

"Christ Crucified" is our only hope and the world's one and only remedy.
